Preparation Method

1. Prepare the oven and pan
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 25 × 11 cm loaf pan with butter and lightly flour it, or line it with parchment paper.

2. Mix the eggs and sugar
In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar using a whisk or electric mixer until the mixture becomes light, pale, and slightly fluffy.

3. Add the flavorings and liquids
Stir in the honey and a pinch of salt, then add the orange zest and fresh orange juice. Mix well to combine the flavors.

4. Add the oil
Pour in the vegetable oil slowly while continuing to mix until the batter becomes smooth and well blended.

5. Incorporate the dry ingredients
Sift together the flour and baking powder, then gradually add them to the mixture. Stir gently until you obtain a smooth and lump-free batter.

6. Pour into the pan
Transfer the batter into the prepared loaf pan and level the surface with a spatula.

7. Add the butter strips
Place a few thin strips of butter across the top of the batter. This helps create the characteristic crack on the surface while baking.

8. Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 40–45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

9. Cool and serve
Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then remove it and let it cool completely on a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
