Preparation Method
1. Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti or linguine according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and reserve ½ cup of pasta cooking water to help create a smooth sauce later.
2. Sear the Shrimp
Pat the shrimp dry and season them with Cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1–2 minutes per side, until they turn pink and slightly golden. Remove the shrimp from the pan and set aside.
3. Prepare the Creamy Cajun Sauce
Reduce the heat to medium. Add the butter to the same skillet and let it melt. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and simmer gently for 2–3 minutes. Add the grated Parmesan cheese and chili flakes, stirring until the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
4. Combine Everything
Add the cooked pasta and shrimp back into the skillet. Pour in a small amount of the reserved pasta water and toss everything together until the pasta is evenly coated in the creamy sauce. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
5. Serve
Plate the pasta by twirling it into a tall, volcano-style mound. Top with the shrimp, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice for brightness.
